GAL PALS
📍 London & Brighton, UK
Biography
Gal Pals is a queer dance party created by and for queer women, trans and non-binary people. Founded in London in 2015 by DJs Scarlett Shaney and XZAN, Gal Pals has been at the forefront of dyke nightlife for a decade now. With an unapologetic love of pop music, and a commitment to playing music exclusively by women and trans musicians, Gal Pals have honed their signature sound, seamlessly blending girly pop, hip hop, R&B, hyperpop and dance music.
Co-founders and resident DJs XZAN and Scarlett Shaney have played at Glastonbury Festival, Mighty Hoopla, Primavera Sound Barcelona, Body Movements, Brighton Pride (Dance Tent & Main Stage) and Manchester Pride (Main Stage).
They have supported musicians such as Big Freedia, Mykki Blanco and Anna Calvi, and collaborated with Soho House and Brighton Festival - including producing the festival’s first club night at the iconic venue Brighton Dome in collaboration with Nabihah Iqbal and Polyglamorous.
In April 2015 they launched their biggest venture yet, Lezzer Fest, a day festival to celebrate Lesbian Visibility Day on April 26th. With multiple rooms of music, DJs, performers, a queer marketplace, food stalls and more - the event was a sell out success and brought together 1500 people to London Vauxhall for a one of a kind event celebrating lesbian nightlife and club culture.
